A clean, fresh scent is the sign of a job well done, but with so many types of cleaning products available, how do you know which to choose to keep bad odours at bay?
Traditionally, there have always been two main options when it comes to tackling bad odours – using a fragranced cleaning product to mask the odour, or using an odour neutraliser to get to the root of the problem.
Read on below to learn more about the differences between these two options, and discover the third option we’ve got up our sleeves here at Bunzl CHS, to help make removing odours a breeze!
What are fragranced cleaning products?
Using a fragranced cleaning product is a fast, efficient and cost-effective way to cover odours. However, it’s important to remember that these products only mask odours, and don’t always address the source of the problem, so you may not be able to enjoy that ‘just cleaned’ scent for long.
Whilst fragranced products might seem like a quick fix, you will probably find that you need to keep re-applying them, so in the long run it might not save you quite as much time as you first thought.
What are odour neutralising cleaning products?
Using an odour neutraliser is a longer-lasting solution which tackles the core of the odour problem. Neutralising products tend to use biological cleaning methods, with enzymes to address unpleasant or unwanted smells at their source.
Although these products have the benefit of removing the cause of the smell, even the best odour neutralisers have some downsides: they tend to be slow to act, and can be restrictive with regards to the types of odours they can tackle. In some cases, these products are also incompatible with other types of cleaning products.
In addition to this, products which use enzymes carry a degree of risk for respiratory and dermal allergies, so you’ll need to bear in mind the personal safety of those administering the cleaning.
