Sustainable, On-the-Go Period Care for Field Workers
BCHS work closely with Grace & Green to support workplace wellbeing with sustainable, portable period care – designed for construction, emergency and education sectors.
Why Period Kits Are Essential to Modern Workplaces
In 2023, a UK study* of 2000 women in the workplace found that only 3% of menstruators felt that their employer provided adequate support during their period, and although period-positive brands have made an impact since then, we still have a long way to go. The reality of managing cramps, fatigue and discomfort – combined with worrying about being caught without products, adds unnecessary stress to the workday. For many, especially those with chronic conditions like endometriosis, menstrual health directly affects concentration, comfort and confidence at work.
A Practical Solution
Period kits have been created to solve a simple but widespread problem – the lack of access to period products for field workers.
Being caught short in the workplace, a common experience for many women, highlights the real need for accessible, reliable period products in the workplace. For those in unpredictable environments, this can mean taking time off-site or even leaving work early. These kits offer a practical, dignified solution that helps employers support health, inclusion and wellbeing across their teams.
Designed for Real-World Environments
Modern workplaces extend far beyond office walls – into construction sites, ambulances, classrooms and field operations.
Grace & Green period kits are the first in the UK to be developed specifically for mobile workplaces.
Every element of the design serves a purpose:
- Durable Tyvek® outer: lightweight, waterproof, wipe-clean and recyclable when it reaches the end of its life, making it suitable for vehicles, outdoor sites, or shared team spaces.
- Bold, clear labelling: so the kit can be identified quickly, even in high-pressure or emergency environments.
- Compact and portable: fits easily into glove compartments, lockers or site kits.
- Fully stocked with effective essentials: bamboo pads and liners, organic cotton tampons (with and without applicators) and biodegradable wipes.
All products are made with plant-based materials, free from chlorine bleach, dyes and synthetic fragrances. Product packaging is recyclable or compostable and the kit itself is refillable, providing a sustainable long-term solution.
Supporting Key Sectors
● Construction and Utilities – Construction sites often lack consistent facilities, especially for menstruating employees who are often the minority in male-dominated environments. By including period kits as part of standard site setup, companies can demonstrate their commitment to equity and well-being. Kits can be stored in site offices, portacabins or vehicles, providing reliable support without logistical complications.
● Emergency and Blue-Light Services – For ambulance crews, paramedics and other frontline responders, work is mobile and unpredictable. Having access to portable period care means staff can focus on their jobs without unnecessary interruptions.
● Education and Sports – From school sports teams to university athletics, inadequate facilities or limited access to menstrual care can be a real barrier to participation. The kits can make a tangible difference, transforming everyday experiences and ensuring no one’s potential is limited by a lack of access to essential care.
Sustainability and Social Impact
Sustainability is at the heart of every Grace & Green product. The period kits extend their mission of ethical, environmentally conscious period care into new and underserved industries.
Each product in the kit is made from plant-based materials and packaged with recyclable or compostable materials. The kit bag is designed for long-term use and easy refilling, reducing waste and costs for employers.
